The Council also considered the nomination of Ms Jill Brooks to fill the town council trustee vacancy arising from the resignation of Mr Barry Beadle from his council nominated position to take up the appointment as Deputy Clerk to the Charity. Members noted the skills and experience that Ms Brooks would bring to the role and which were required. During discussion, Members noted an error within the draft letter supplied by Weymouth Town Council, which referred to the Equality Act 2000 rather than the Equality Act 2010. Concern was also expressed that, as both Weymouth Town Council and the local Member of Parliament were Liberal Democrat led, care should be taken to ensure the matter was not viewed as a political issue. Members agreed that the proposal should be supported on its merits as an issue of accessibility and inclusion rather than party politics.

Discussion also took place regarding the potential impact on local employment opportunities and the need to balance housing and economic objectives.
